Kenneth Hagert

Kenneth Hagert, 51, of Sanborn, died on Wednesday, November 16, 2016, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Springfield.

Funeral service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 21, at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn with Pastor Matthew Sprunger officiating.  Interment was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

Kenneth David Hagert was born November 21, 1964, to Theodore and Lucille (Mold) Hagert in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin. Ken attended elementary school in Hoffman and Sanborn. He graduated from Sanborn High School and then attended Canby Vocational School. Ken moved to the Twin Cities and managed Burger King. Ken married Brenda Fennern on September 20, 1986, at Willow Lake Lutheran Church. They resided in Rogers, until 1991 when they returned to the Sanborn area. Ken was a member of the Wanda Fire Department, the Wanda City Council, and was vice-president of the Wanda State Bank. He was on the bank’s board of directors and a loan officer. Ken was the owner of the Wanda State Insurance Agency.  Ken and Brenda owned and operated the Tracy Dairy Queen from 1991-2006, and purchased the Sanborn Dairy Queen in February of 2015. The couple currently resided at the Sanborn Corners. Ken enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Lake Norway where they owned a home. He had many projects in his life.  His latest passion was working with his children in raising farm animals — cattle, goats and chickens. Ken was very dedicated to his loving wife and soulmate, Brenda, and their lives revolved around their children.

He is survived by wife Brenda; children, Kendra and husband Andrew Engen of Wanda, Andrew, Alex, Zack, Charlie, Shylin, Emma and Jenna Hagert of Sanborn; his mother, Lucille Hagert of Sanborn; brother, Keith Hagert of Coon Rapids; sister Kristin and husband Mark Butterfield of Waseca; brother-in-law, Dale Fennern and wife Mary of Sanborn; sister-in-law, Jolene and husband John Salfer of St. Michael; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Ken was preceded in death by his father Theodore Hagert; grandparents, Maurice and Agnes Mold, and Michael and Madeline Hagert; and parents-in-law, Ivan and Betty Fennern.
