Kenneth Streich

Kenneth Streich, 79, of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato.

Visitation was and funeral service at 10:30 a.m. April 16 in the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.  Pastor Grant Fischer officiated at the service. Interment was in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, with military honors by the Sleepy Eye Honor Guard.

Kenneth George Streich was born on Nov. 25, 1938, in Comfrey  to Raymond and Julia (Groebner) Streich. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965. He married June Wegner on July 11, 1968,  at the Redwood Falls Courthouse. He farmed with his dad for 18 years, worked as a mechanic in Clements and Cobden. He also owned and operated Streich’s Bar for 13 years and drove truck for Christensen Farms and Schwartz Farms retiring in 2008. He enjoyed playing guitar and concertina, old time music, riding his Harley motorcycle, camping, snowmobiling and traveling to Sturgis.

He is survived by his wife, June, of Sleepy Eye; son and daughter-in-law, Quinten and Donna Streich of Statesville, N.C.; three grandchildren,  Cody, Courtney and Casey; sisters-in-law, Jeanette (Michael) Crouch of Sleepy Eye, and Lauraine (Stan) Sowers of Sleepy Eye; brother-in-law James Wegner of Evan; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Clifford (Shirley) Streich.
