Lanore Prechel

Lanore Louise Prechel, 83, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, March 16) at the St. Paul Lutheran Church followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Christian Andrews will officiate at the service. Interment will be at the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Springfield.

Lanore Louise Prechel was born August 29, 1932, in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota, to George and Edna (Winkelmann) Prechel. She was received by Christ into His church through Holy Baptism on October 2, 1932, and reaffirmed her Baptism Covenant and faith in God at her confirmation on April 14, 1946, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Springfield. Lanore graduated from Springfield High School in 1950 then worked for Vigorena Feeds. Lanore moved to Mankato in 1963 and worked for Hiniker Company for 19 years as a clerk, clerical worker and accountant. She retired in 1997 and moved back to Springfield. Lanore enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Mankato Women’s Bowling Association where she served as secretary-treasurer and was a member of the “600” Club. She also enjoyed golfing, crocheting, knitting and flower gardening. Lanore was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield, the Bell Choir, Senior Choir, and Mary Magdalene Circle. Lanore crocheted “The Lord’s Prayer” which is seen at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

She is survived by sister Dorothy Schuelke of Comfrey; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Edna Prechel; brother, Roland Prechel; sister-in-law, Ottie Prechel; and brother-in-law, Ewald Schuelke.
