One of eleven children born to Herman and Amanda Wendt, Pete was born on the family farm in Johnsonville Township...just down the road from the Ingalls family farm, which “Little House on the Prairie” was based on.  Pete attended the Cherry Field School in Johnsonville Township until he began farming with his parents and other siblings.  When Pete retired from farming in 1994, he moved into Lamberton.

Pete leaves behind a legacy of a servant’s heart...caring for his parents to help them age gracefully while taking over the family farm.  Additionally, Pete loved to fish and hunt with his good friends, no matter the season.   Pete also loved bowling in Revere in his younger years where people served as pin setters or in Lamberton later in life, where there were automatic pin setters.  Another highlight for Pete as he enjoyed retirement in Lamberton was meeting with friends in the morning and again in the afternoon at the former Hardware Store downtown for coffee and cookies.  Pete was loved by many and was always available to his family and friends in their time of need.  His lifetime membership at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Wabasso speaks to Pete’s love for his Savior and how he loved...as Christ commanded us to love.  He will be sorely missed!

Pete is survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Adehlia Lamprecht, Elizabeth Anderson, Arlene Rengstorf, Rosella Buddensiek, Dorothy Coulter, Helen Fischer, Ruth Kersten; and brothers, Arthur, William, Wilbur, and Arnold Wendt.
