Leonard Marz
Leonard M. Marz, 92, of Springfield, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, at his home in Springfield.
A private graveside was held in the St. Raphael Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, per his wishes.
Leonard is survived by his children, Michael (Barb) Marz, of Springfield, Doug Marz, of Springfield, Deborah (Gary) Groebner, of Springfield, Patricia (Gary) Wittman, of Lake Lillian; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his fiancée, Gail Jenniges.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; an infant brother; sisters, Annie (Bill) Schouvieller, Veronica (Nick) Hillesheim, Marie (Lowell) Johnson; brothers, Frank (Pat) Marz, Alfred (Lula) Marz, Walter Marz and Linus Marz.
Leonard Michael Marz was born February 21, 1927, in Springfield, to Frank and Anna (Ubl) Marz. He attended public school in Springfield. Leonard enlisted in the United States Navy and served during WWII he was honorably discharged on July 19, 1946. After the war he worked for Steinke Building Center, Bright’s Texaco, Roth Chevrolet in Lamberton and Potter’s West Side. He taught auto mechanics in Springfield for Springfield Public School, Lamberton and Sleepy Eye Schools. He owned and operated Len’s Texaco and Len’s Repair. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Springfield American Legion.
