Leroy ‘Swede’ Walters

 LeRoy “Swede” Duane Walters, 88, of Comfrey, died on Thursday, August 15, 2019, at Granite Falls Care Center.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 24, in the New Hope Lutheran Church, Comfrey. Interment will be in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Springfield.

LeRoy Duane, son of Tena (Schafer) and Theodore Walters, was born on May 1, 1931, in Mountain Lake,  where he grew up.  He married He married Marjorie Prechel, Sept. 11, 1954. She died in 2000. Swede served with the U.S. Army, was a mechanic at the Ford Garage, then worked at a service station, purchasing it in 184 and operating it until his retirement May 1, 2002. 

He is survived by children; Kim (Jon) Anderson of Ortonville, Kathy (Cletus) Hillesheim of Sanborn, Daniel (Sheryl) Walters of Granite Falls,  and Dana (Pat) Walters of Coon Rapids; special friend, Donna Hustad of Granite Falls; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers, Eugene and Bill.
