Lillian Halter

Lillian Halter, 90, of Springfield, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at her home. 

Funeral Service was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 6, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Springfield with Pastor Julie Smith officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Lillian M (Lindholm) Halter was born on November 2, 1924, to Leander and Emma Marie (Erickson) Lindholm in Prairieview Township, Wilkins County, Minnesota. She lived on a farm in rural Rothsay and was the 11th of 14 children. Lillian was baptized and confirmed at the Little Bethany Church, rural Barnesville. She attended District 45 country school for eight years, and graduated from Barnesville High School. On September 1, 1956, she was united in marriage to William Halter Jr. of Lamberton at the Zion Lutheran Chapel by Rev. C. Muske. They purchased Halter Trucking and moved to Springfield in 1966. She was the bookkeeper for many years. She was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church of Lamberton and St Paul Lutheran Church of Springfield where she taught Sunday School and was the treasurer of the Tabitha Circle for many years. Lillian had a great love for children, dancing, being with her family and friends, reading, gardening, music and spending weekends at the lake.

Lillian is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Bill (William Jr.); her three children, Helen Burns (friend John) of Lamberton, Marilyn (Marlow) Nickel of Jeffers, and Randy (Kay) Halter of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Shane (Jeannie) Burns of Hanover, Scott Nickel of Jeffers, Shawn Burns of Naples, Fla., Jamie (Heidi) Nickel of Plymouth, Steven (Sara) Burns of Wabasso, Robin (James) Weis of Jeffers, Sean Burns of Lamberton, Miranda (Greg) Weedman of Janesville, Julie Nickel of North Mankato, and Michael (Cassandra) Halter of Springfield; 18 great-grandchildren, Brittany (David) Allion of Sarasota Fla., Zachary and Ian Burns of Hanover, Callie, Jack and Andrew Burns of Wabasso, Collin, Devin and Ella Nickel of Jeffers, Kiana and Keegan Nickel of Plymouth, Nautica, Bianca and Mikayla Weis of Jeffers, Gavin and Aubrey Weedman of Janesville, and Alivia and Adilyn Halter of Springfield; two sisters, Muriel Knutson and Fern Maness; and one brother, Lloyd Lindholm. 

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents; grand-daughter, Shannon Burns; seven sisters, Elise Lindholm, Edna Benson, Leona Raw, Ellen Bell, Mae Olson, Florence Nelson and Myrtle Anderson; and three brothers; Lester, Melvin and George Lindholm.
