He graduated from Madelia High School in 1962 and from Mankato Area Vocational School in 1964. After graduating from Vocational School, he farmed for two years with his father. In 1965, he joined the National Guard 125th Artillery Unit and served in the reserves until 1971.
Lloyd was united in marriage to Judith Larson on October 1, 1967, at Lake Hanska Lutheran Church in Hanska. They lived in New Ulm and Lloyd worked at Knopke Motors as an auto mechanic.
On March 16, 1968, Lloyd went farming on his own. He was a dairy and grain farmer, farming on the Voss farm by St. James and the Forseth farm in Hanska. In 1972, he purchased his farm in Springfield where he and his wife raised their family.
On August 4, 1990, Lloyd was united in marriage to Sandra Ellen Keithahn at the Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa. They continued dairy farming until November of 2000 when he sold his cows. He continued grain farming until about 2010.
Lloyd enjoyed his family and grandchildren, inventing and making equipment, helping his friends, camping, researching projects, his pets and farming. His faith was very important to him. Over the years he served as a Sunday school teacher, the church task force, six years on church council, ushered, and served communion. In obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ and in imitation of His example, Lloyd was baptized on November 5, 2006.
