Marian Short, 81, of Springfield died on Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, at St. John Lutheran Home.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at St. John Lutheran Home with Chaplain Noel Wetter officiating. Visitation will be in the chapel from noon until time of services.
Marian Short was born on Dec. 12, 1932, in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of Lloyd and Francis (Devlin) Chappell. She graduated high school and was united in marriage to Joseph Short on March 7, 1951, in Washington state. The couple lived most of their life in Oregon and Montana, but moved to Springfield in 1990. Marion enjoyed crocheting baby hats, playing the piano, and wrote a column for the Springfield Advance-Press for the past 13 years.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph of Springfield; children, Jeannette Yeager of Springfield, Dan (Wendy) Short of Mt. Home, Idaho, Patty (Tom) Dougherty of Pike, Wash., and David (Tongbai) of Thailand; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Deanna Johnson of California; and a brother, Richard Chappell of Washington. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Barb Clark; and a son-in-law, Randy Yeager.
