Marie Clara Riederer was born on February 17, 1929, to Leo and Matilda (Platz) Riederer on the family farm in Brown County, Minnesota. She attended country school District 59.  She married Arnold Hillesheim on June 2, 1948, at the Church of Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth. Marie enjoyed ceramics, crossword puzzles, watching and feeding birds. She was never one to sit still and was on the go enjoying car rides, trips to the casino, and traveling — especially her trips with Arnold on cruises, to Mexico, Hawaii, and Branson. Her great love was spending with and taking care of her grandchildren. Vacation time at the lake was always treasured as a family. For many years Marie worked as Arnold’s assistant at the lumberyard.  She was a Girl Scout leader, and a member of St. Raphael Catholic Church, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Arnold of Springfield; children, Mary Kay Kieper of Springfield and Mark Hillesheim and partner Kevin Wasilewski of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; sister, Marlene (Tom) Johnson of New Ulm; sisters-in-laws, Lorell Riederer, Mary Ann Riederer and Mary Jane Hillesheim-Lake;  and  her beloved dog, Miss Lilly.  Marie was preceded in death by her parents; son, Mike (Nitsa) Hillesheim; brothers James, Wilbert, John, Leonard, Brother Cletus (Richard), Gerald and Eugene; and a sister,  Alyce Springer.
