Marion Rose Roiger

Marion Rose Roiger, age 94, of Springfield passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at St. John's Lutheran Home in Springfield.  

Mass of Christian Burial was 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield with Father Garrett Ahlers as celebrant.  

Burial followed in the church cemetery.  

Visitation was at the church on Saturday from 9 :00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Marion Rose (Platz) Roiger was born December 2, 1926 in Springfield, MN to Joseph and Elizabeth (Schunk) Platz.  She was united in marriage to Leonard Roiger on April 29, 1946 at St. Raphael Catholic Church, Springfield, MN.  The couple farmed together raising their thirteen children.  Her life was dedicated to raising her children and making a loving home for them.  She loved to sew.   She made many quilts for her family.  She was very involved with St Raphael craft ladies helping them with many quilts. She also sewed baby quilts for Brown County Public Health and African pillowcase dresses.   She and Leonard also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years in Springfield, was a member of the Legion Auxiliary. Sundays were special times spent with family.  She enjoyed playing scrabble, cards and dice with family and her friends at the Maples.  Marion was an involved grandmother, great grandmother and great, great grandmother 

Marion is survived by her 13 children- Nancy Vogel, Springfield; Judy (Dan) Schroeder, Springfield; Ron (Carol) Roiger, Hutchinson; Barb (Mark) Haschka, Grand Rapids; Rosie (Dale) Potter, Springfield; Patsy (James) Peterson, Red Wing; Charlene (Chris) Haschka, Edina; MaryKay (Don) Knudson, Rochester; Mark (Jackie) Roiger, Springfield; Tom (Darla) Roiger, Sleepy Eye;  Richard (Bev) Roiger, Carver; Jon (Sheila) Roiger, Springfield: Keith Roiger (Susan) Mound, MN:  53 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 4 great-great  grandchildren, four brothers, Jim (Judy ) Platz, Tom (Jerri )Platz, Bernard and Pat (Deb) Platz.  She was preceded  in death by her husband, parents, sisters, Doris, Rosalyn, Joan,  Margie and Elizabeth: brothers, Joseph, Linus,  Kenneth, daughter-in-law, Jill Roiger, son-in-law, Ernest Vogel.
