Marvin Joseph Roiger, 83, of Springfield, died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Home.

A Memorial Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, at St. Raphael Catholic Church with the Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating.  Interment was in St. Raphael Cemetery. 

Marvin Joseph Roiger was born on January 22, 1933 in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota, the son of Arthur and Florence (Saffert) Roiger. He attended country school and helped on the family farm. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in August 1961. He was united in marriage to Donna Gag on August 22, 1955, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. Marvin was an active member of the Springfield American Legion and St. Raphael Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and assisted with many jobs around the church and St. Raphael Catholic School. He enjoyed being a farmer, even after retirement, he still drove his 4-wheeler around checking the fields and crops, loved to fish, and enjoyed watching baseball. Marvin and Donna enjoyed traveling after retirement. 

He is survived by his children, Arthur Roiger of New Baltimore, Michigan, Pamela Roiger of Bemidji, Patricia (Ed) Triana of Syracuse, New York, and Mary J. Roiger of St. Paul; three grandchildren; and sisters, Marlene Windschitl and Ardis (Dennis) Griebel. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna, in 2010; infant sons, Martin and Francis; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Gag.
