Maynard Beyer

Maynard Beyer, age 88, of Sanborn, MN died on October 13, 2020, at his home in Sanborn. 

A Masonic service was held Sunday, October 18, 2020 at 10:00 am at the Springfield Area Community Center in Springfield. 

Due to Covid 19, a “walk through” visitation was held Sunday morning from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Springfield Area Community Center.  A lunch was held following the visitation.

A service lead by Rev. Wesley Johnson was  held Sunday afternoon at the Springfield Area Community Center followed by  Interment in  the Springfield City Cemetery with military honors. 

Maynard Beyer was born on May 13, 1932, to Lester and Rosa (Russenberger) Beyer in Springfield. After graduating from Lamberton High School in 1950, Maynard attended Mankato College. He was drafted into the US Army in 1952 and served in Korea and was discharged in 1954. Maynard returned to Germantown Township and started farming. 

On April 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Lois Renner. Maynard and Lois raised two boys Steve and Clayton. Lois died in 1992. Maynard retired from farming in 1997. On September 21, 1997, Maynard married Sharon Pankonin at Red Rock United Methodist Church. 

Maynard was a member of Germantown EUB which became Germantown UMC. He served on various community boards including Germantown Township, DHIA, Farm Credit Services and church boards. Maynard was also a member of the Masonic Lodge of Sanborn and Sanborn American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and traveling. 

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Sanborn; sons - Steve (Jane) of Mesa, AZ and Clayton (Deb) of Springfield; sister Ardelle Swenson of Mankato; 4 step children - Shelly (Josh) Kiel, Susan (Jeff) Rosenstengel, Jeff

(Michelle) Pankonin, and Randy (Kelly) Pankonin; 7 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 13 step grandchildren, and 6 great step grandchildren.

Maynard was preceded in death by his wife Lois (Renner) Beyer; parents Lester and Rosa Beyer; parents-in-law Ervin and Vera Renner; and twin grandsons.
