Michael R. Schmid, 84, of Longmont, Colorado, died February 3, 2016 in hospice at the Peaks Care Center after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was born December 14, 1931, in Springfield.

He is survived by his wife Jeanne (Pietrus) Schmid, children Cindy DeSantis (Jim), Dr. Peter Schmid (Anne), Mary Beth Cipoletti, Anne Marie Schmid, Emily Schneider (Jeff), and Allyson Volpe (Santo); twelve grandchildren, brother Clem Schmid (Mary Ann), and his sister Nancy Herzog (Paul) and nieces and nephews.
