Nancy Kosel age 71, of Sanborn died on December 15, 2022, at Olivia Rehabilitation Center in Olivia, MN
Visitation was on Tuesday December 20, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield and will continue on from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn on Wednesday.
Service will be held at the Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn, on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
The clergy will be Pastor Ethan Boese. Interment will be at the in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, in Sanborn.

Nancy Kosel was born February 4, 1951, to Wilbert “Pete” and Arlene (Weber) Wog. She was raised on the family farm near Sanborn and attended school at Sanborn High school. She worked several jobs that she would speak fondly of including Herberger’s in New Ulm and SMC in Springfield. During this time, she enjoyed being with friends. It was also during this time she began dating Jim. On November 20, 1971, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Kosel at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn.
Nancy enjoyed 51 years of marriage to her husband and together they raised two children on their farm near Sanborn. She enjoyed driving tractor when she was able and was still involved and interested in the farm even as her MS progressed and she was physically unable to participate. She was a lifelong member of the Sanborn area and Zion Lutheran Church where she was involved in many things including the Ladies Aide, substitute organist, and the choir. Nancy enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, spending time with friends and family, debating politics, and helping in any way she could in the church and community. She was also a long-time member of the Sanborn American Legion Auxiliary where she served in a number of rolls over the years, including President and organizing the local Girls State participants. Nancy will be remembered for her cooking, caring and giving personality, and deep conversations.
Nancy died on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Olivia Restorative Therapy and Nursing in Olivia MN at the age of 71. She is survived by her husband, James Kosel of Sanborn; son, Adam (Beth) Kosel of Sleepy Eye; daughter, Ashley Kosel of Oak Park, Michigan; brother, Steve (Rita) Wog of Austin, TX; niece, Ann Wog of Washington, DC; nephew, Pat (Shannon) Wog and their children Nickolas and Zackary of Hastings, MN; brothers-in-law, David (Molly) Kosel of Wanda, MN; and Dale Kosel of Austin, MN; sisters-in-law, Annette (Chuck) Sportel of Roseland, MN and Dawn (Rick) Rykhus of Tracy, MN; and nieces and nephews, Ryan (Amy) Sportel and their children Sullivan & Finley, Ross Sportel, Kris (Jason) Garman and their children Haley, Courtney & Aaron, Todd (Annie) Kosel and their children Alex & Avery, Bradley Kosel, Kyle Kosel, Alicia (Trent) Edwards and their children Oaken & Aerie, and Alexis (Tyler) Myrom.
Nancy was preceded in death by her mother Arlene in 2018; her father Wilbert “Pete” in 2004; infant sister Karen; and aunt and uncle Georgine and Johnnie Hofmann.
