Ralph Jon Fritz

Ralph Jon Fritz, a well-known WCCO TV Channel 4 sportscaster for 40 years, well into retirement, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, in Florida. Fritz was a Sleepy Eye native and St. Mary’s High School graduate.  He was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2015.   Fritz, known for his great sense of humor and smiling face, in and out of the newsroom, covered many Minnesota state high school hockey tournaments while at WCCO TV. He hosted a outdoor feature show, “Out ‘N’ About with R.J. Fritz.”
