Robert C. Sater
Robert C. Sater, 91, died on June 29, 2016, in Eagan.
Bob was born in Astoria, S.D., and moved with his parents to Springfield at age four. He graduated from Springfield High School and entered the U.S. Navy in 1942, serving as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class in Pearl Harbor for the duration of the war. After returning home, he graduated from Minneapolis Business College and was employed by Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance until retirement. Bob married DeLores Schenk at Zion Lutheran Church in 1948 and they settled in St. Louis Park. They enjoyed more than 68 years of marriage, and were avid campers with their children. Bob was active in the Viking Torsk Club and in the Lutheran Brotherhood Singers, and enjoyed singing his whole life.
He is survived by his wife, Dee; daughters, Susan (Craig) McKay, and Sally (Dennis) Hendrickson; son, Scott (Lisa) Sater; six grandchildren, Justin (Holland), Chris, Brenna (Seamus), Ashley, Angela and Kelly; one brother, Jack (Louise) Sater; six sisters, Phyllis Wurtz, Coralie Ritchie, Diane (Don) Boelter, Mary (Ken) Griffiths, Darla (John) Peterson and Ruth (Jim) Barge.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Selma; three brothers, Vernon, Corlyss and Richard; three sisters, June, Leatrice and Sandra; and grandson, Sam Sater.
Services were held in Westwood Lutheran Church in St. Louis Park on July 12, with private interment.
