Robert Kelly, 83, of Comfrey, died on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
The funeral Service will be held in St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, Nov. 14) with Father Andy Michels officiating. Interment will be at the St. Paul Catholic Cemetery, Comfrey.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey.
Robert James (Buzz) Kelly was born on Dec. 20, 1934, in Cottonwood County, Minnesota, the son of James and Alice (Roepke) Kelly. He graduated from Comfrey Public School in 1952. Buzz started working for Carlson Brothers
Construction. He then joined the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on Oct. 15, 1959. Returning home, he continued working for Carlson Bros. Construction and M.R. Paving for over 50 years. On June 17, 1961, he was
united in marriage to Annette (Nettie) Wersal at St. Raphael Catholic Church in Springfield. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, softball, bowling, playing cards, and shooting pool. He enjoyed attending all sporting events, especially involving his grandchildren. Buzz also enjoyed collecting
cans for the music program and the tops for the Ronald McDonald House. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Comfrey.
He is survived by his wife, Nettie of Comfrey; children, Michael (Linda) Kelly, James (Tammy) Kelly, Jon (Connie) Kelly, all of Comfrey, Brian (friend JoLynn) Kelly of New Ulm, and Kathy (Keith) Augustin of Stewartville;
grandchildren, Matthew, Allison, Sadie, Cole, Karliana, Logan, Joshua, Abigail, Zachary, Samantha, Seanan, Kristen, Kyle and Kaitlyn; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Virginia (Vernon) Pederson of Comfrey. Buzz was preceded in death by his parents.
