Roy A. Therkilsen
Roy A. Therkilsen age 97, formerly of rural Comfrey, MN and Jeffers died on May 18, 2020, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield, MN.
A private family service took place at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Stately Township on Thursday, May 21, 2020. The family is planning a memorial service at a later date.
The clergy was Chaplain Noel Wetter.

Roy Therkilsen was born on August 30, 1922, to Marinus and Agnes (Andersen) Therkilsen in Delton Township near Sanborn. He attended country school and Comfrey Public High School and then farmed on his farm. He was united in marriage to Marie Magdalena Wellner on February 14, 1944. Marie died in 1974. Roy then married Alice (Halter) Leopold on January 24, 1976 at Christ Lutheran Church in Stately Township. The couple moved to Jeffers, but Roy continued to help his sons on the farm. Following Alice’s death in 2012, he moved to Brickstone Manor in Comfrey and later moved to St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield in 2016. Roy was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church and a member of the Jeffers Lutheran Church. He had served on the board of the township school, Jeffers’ Elevator Board, and was a Gideon. He enjoyed dancing, visiting with people, and was a very generous and caring person.
He is survived by his children - Jean Leopold and her husband James of St. James, Rodney Therkilsen and his wife, JoAnn of Otsego, Jennifer Therkilsen-Gebhard and her husband, Duane of Park Rapids, Jay Therkilsen and his wife, Alberta of Brandon, FL, Randy Therkilsen and his wife, Maureen of Comfrey, and Terry Therkilsen and his wife, Jeri of Comfrey; 15 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wives - Marie and Alice; a great granddaughter; and siblings - Gladys, Grace, Lotus, Elsie, and Lester Therkilsen.
