Russell Johnson, 81 of Sanborn, died Wednesday, August 24, 2016, at Valley View Manor Care Center in Lamberton.
Funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Monday, August 29, at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield with Chaplain Noel Wetter officiating. Interment was in the Sanborn City Cemetery.
Russell Philip Johnson was born September 10, 1934, in Prairieville Township, Brown County, Minnesota, to Evald and Hazel (Borchart) Johnson. He served with the U.S. Army from 1957-59 and was united in marriage to Clarice Russenberger on December 15, 1962, at the Springfield EUB Church. Russell drove a milk truck, worked at S & S Concrete in Sanborn and Springfield, served as a rural mail carrier, and worked for Kevin Schwartz farming in the spring and fall. He enjoyed country western music, visiting with his brother, and farming.
He is survived by his wife, Clarice of Lamberton; son, Harley and wife Doreen of Sanborn; daughter Holly Jo and husband Rick Barber of Luverne; grandchildren, Ashley Jo Barber of Luverne, and Nicholas (fiancée Briana Grimmius) Barber of Beaver Creek; sister-in-law, Alice Mae (Leroy) Hindermann of Sleepy Eye; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Darold, in infancy, and Albert; and sisters, Adeline and Virginia.
