Russell Alan Pankonin died Monday, Sept. 14, 2015.
He was born Nov. 1, 1945, in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota, to Kenneth and Betty (Kansanback) Pankonin. He graduated from Sanborn Public School in 1963, then began farming, raising grain and cattle. He served his country in the National Guard. He married Carol Bass in Westbrook on July 15, 1972. They made their home on the family farm until retirement in 2013 when he and Carol moved into Lamberton.
He is survived by his wife; sons Jason (Darlene) Pankonin, of New Ulm, Dr. Kyle (Kari) Pankonin of Lamberton, and Alex (Jenny) Pankonin of Sanborn; daughter Sarah (James) Rains of Rochester; 10 grandchildren; four sisters and two brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
