Thomas Hession

Thomas Hession

Thomas Richard Hession, 66, of Springfield, and formerly of Mankato, died on May 5, 2015, at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato after a struggle with cancer.

Tom was born on November 19, 1948, to Charles F. and Ethel Hession in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the 1960s, his family moved to Mankato where he graduated from Mankato High School in 1966.  Tom served in the U.S. Army from January 1969 to June 1970, spending one year in Vietnam.  Upon honorable discharge from military service, Tom worked for Hubbard Milling and Brown Printing in the computer field.  In 1983, Tom relocated to Springfield and started work as a computer operator for Sanborn Manufacturing.  In later years, Tom drove a school bus in the Springfield School District.  He was especially proud of participating in the Patriot Guard driving his motorcycle in the funeral processions for a fellow veteran.  Being a part of the American Legion Post 257 in Springfield was important to Tom.  Hesh enjoyed motorcycling, golfing and hunting with friends throughout his life.

Tom is survived by his brother, Joseph Hession of New Ulm; and many dear friends.  Thomas was preceded in death by his parents.

Because Tom donated his body to the University of Minnesota Medical School, there will be no memorial service.  To pay tribute to Tom, you can visit the Veterans Memorial Place at the foot of the Veteran’s bridge in Mankato where you will find his military service paver near the entrance.
