Vera Mae was born to Paul and Viola (Freeman) Trewartha November 18, 1927. Vera graduated from Lamberton High School in 1945 and went on to Minneapolis to receive her Medical Technician training. In May of 1948 she was wed to Lamont (Knute) Kasa. They had one child, their daughter Paula.
Vera and Knute lived and worked along Highway 14. They spent several years in Balaton until moving to Springfield in 1966. Vera enjoyed working at the City Clerk’s office but working at the high school was her favorite, getting to know so many students. Upon retirement she loved playing golf as well as traveling to friends in the SMC Mid States group with Knute. Vera was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church as well as an active member of the Eastern Star to include Worthy Matron. She loved her volunteer life with the Legion Auxiliary and St John’s Nursing Home especially Sunday Chapel.
Grateful for sharing her life is her daughter, Paula and husband Fred Welsch. She is survived by her brother, Jack Trewartha (Elaine) of Indiana, Jean Trewartha of Colorado along with 10 nieces and nephews. Vera was preceded in death by her husband, Knute; her parents; and brothers, Buck and Bill Trewartha.
