Vincent Meindl

Vincent J. Meindl, 80, of Springfield, died on Thursday, April 2, 2015, at St. John Lutheran Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 11, at St. Raphael Catholic Church with The Rev. Phil Schotzko officiating.  Interment will be in St. Raphael Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Vincent Joseph Meindl was born September 19, 1934, in Springfield, Brown County, Minnesota to John and Margaret (Roiger) Meindl. He graduated from Springfield High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1957-59. He was united in marriage to Yvonne Stern on August 26, 1961, at St. Raphael Catholic Church. Vince worked for Ochs Brick & Tile as a foreman for over 41 years. He also worked at the Springfield Municipal Airport for several years. Vince was a lifetime member of St. Raphael Catholic Church and served on the church council. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters of which he was secretary for many years. He was also a member of John Watson American Legion Post 257. Vince enjoyed crossword puzzles, the lottery, fishing, watching Minnesota sports teams, gardening, and feeding the birds. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Vince was so very proud of his granddaughters.

He is survived by wife Yvonne, of Springfield; son Steven (Bonnie) Meindl of Champlin; daughter Shannon (Mike) Petersen of Mankato; grandchildren Lindsey and Abby; brother Robert (Deane) Meindl of Breckenridge; sisters, Sister Gladys Meindl of Rochester and Margaret Ramirez of Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy Fiedler; and brothers-in-law, George Fiedler and Joe Ramirez.
