Springfield Public Schools supports Work-Based Learning
Fourteen students chose to enroll in the Work-Based Learning (WBL) class at Springfield High School during the 2017-18 academic year. With the help of their teacher, Sarah Lee, each of these students was placed at a job location around town. They all had the opportunity to do some job shadowing and have some hands-on work experience for a semester of the school year. All the WBL students learned from their experience and truly appreciated the time their supervisors and co-workers took to guide them and help them grow at their placements. They will use the skills they practiced throughout the semester as they continue their education and/or training.
The students and their WBL placements are as follows: Auggie Gow, Springfield Floral; Cheyanne Hammerschmidt, St. John’s Circle of Care nursing; Tyson Meidl, Graff Insurance; Makayla Michel, Springfield Elementary third grade; Mikayla Parker, Beers Family Dental; Brianna Platz, Springfield Elementary first grade; Arynzi Rabb, St. Raphael Pre-School; Sierra Roiger, Mayo Clinic Health System; Kory Schenk, Jim’s Market; Ross VanDerWal, Springfield Police Department; Kate Vogel, Mayo Clinic Health System; Tanner Vogel, Dan Vogel; LaCole Weisensel, Riverside Animal Clinic; and Makenna Winkelmann, Springfield Signs.
