“Giving Back Together” with Tiger Trek
Parents Aligned With Schools (PAWS) believe that all students deserve great schools. And these dedicated individuals embody the spirit of partnership and collaboration between educators, parents, and community that is critical to student success.
The mission statement of Parents Aligned With Schools is to “enrich the educational experience of our students. PAWS strives to provide our children with the most positive learning experience possible while providing financial assistance to teachers in their classroom settings and holding fundraisers for supplemental educational materials. At the heart of our mission is a commitment to support the Springfield Public Elementary.”
PAWS engages educators, parents and community in an annual Tiger Trek, to raise funds for enhancements in Springfield Elementary. In years past, PAWS contributed the funds for a variety of items to help fulfill many faculty requests: including books, field trip tickets, webite and app fees, Screenagers, Heart of the Tiger t-shirts, school and art supplies Legionville fees and so much more.
This year’s theme is “Giving Back Together” and PAWS will focus on giving back to the school and spending valuable time together. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 this year’s event will look different. Due to restrictions parents will not be able to attend Tiger Trek and there will be no ending party.
PAWS would appreciate your assistance with helping the children raise funds to support the teachers and school financially.
In the past, PAWS has relied on donations for the big prize drawing. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, PAWS and the school have made the difficult decision to forgo the big prize drawings this year and focus on giving back together.
This year’s trek will be an optional run/jog/walking event. There will be trail monitors along the way for safety’s sake. The walking route will be approximately 1.5 miles for students. There will be an optional run/jog route for 4th-6th graders.
The fifteenth annual Tiger Trek will be conducted on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, starting and ending at Brown’s Park.
This year’s committee members are Kim Shoen, Amanda Gartner, Gigi Bliss, Jessica Potter and Amanda Groebner.
