Ag summer tour takes FFA to St. Louis

Four members of the Springfield FFA, Cylee Graff, Bella Johnson, Jerry Majors and Kory Schenk, and Advisor T.J. Brown joined 34 FFA members from Sleepy Eye and Mountain Lake for the 2018 Region VI Summer Ag Tour to St. Louis, Missouri, July 16-18.

They boarded their bus at 5:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, stopping at Waterloo, Iowa, for a tour of the John Deere Museum and the John Deere Tractor Cab Assembly Operation. The large museum tells the story of John Deere from 1837 to the present with a video, restored antique and replica tractors, and interactive computer displays. At the Tractor Cab Assembly Operation they saw John Deere tractors being made from start to finish. John Deere has long been known as the world’s leading manufacturer of agricultural tractors, and is the only tractor manufacturing plant left in the world that retains its founder’s name.

In St. Louis they visited the Grant Farms, the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis,  the Monsanto Research Building, Butterfly Conservatory, and the City Museum.
