FFA judging teams advance to state contests

Springfield FFA takes 4 for 4 at regional contests Qualify for state contests

Springfield FFA had a good day at Regional FFA   competition at Sherburn on October 8, going 4 for 4 in qualifying teams for state contests.

The four state-qualifying teams are Forestry, Soils, Poultry and Horse judging teams. 

 Springfield FFA Horse judging team placed third, Forestry was fourth, and Soils was fifth place team. 

Michael O’Callaghan was high individual in Soils.

Anna Plotz finished in sixth place in Horse judging.

Makenna Winkelmann was ninth in Horse judging.

James Ploeger finished in twelfth place in Forestry competition.   

 Fifteen Springfield FFA students qualified for state competition as a result of their success at Sherburn on October 8.

Fifteen Springfield FFA students qualified for state competition that day. “It is a good day when you get that many kids to qualify for state competition,” said Springfield FFA Advisor T.J. Brown.  

The Poultry team was runner-up in team competition at the University of Minnesota Fall Invitational on October 6. Sleepy Eye FFA was first-place Poultry team at the invitational, and Maple River was third. 

The Soils team placed seventh in the University of Minnesota Fall Invitational Contest. Michael O’Callaghan was fifth-place individual in the contest.   He finished behind two students from Mazeppa-Zumbrota, one from Sleepy Eye, and another from Waterville- Elysian – Morristown.

 The Horse judging team placed fifth at the University of Minnesota Fall Invitational.
