Music in Our Schools Month

March is Music in our Schools month

 

 For forty years, March has been officially designated by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) for the observance of Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM).  It is the time of year when music education becomes the focus of schools across the nation.

     Music is alive at the Springfield schools with all students having the opportunity to participate in some way—whether it be choir or band or just taking a music class.  All elementary students also experience music in class every week.  Music instructors at Springfield Public School are Mr. Bailey Cords, Ms. Erin Oberle and Ms. Andrea Berends.  Every day, in the classrooms and rehearsal rooms, these educators dedicate themselves to reaching all students with life-changing experiences.  Parents and the community often only see the wonderful results of the concert performances; however, they miss the months of practice and rehearsals and the whole learning process that takes place to make it all happen.
