River Valley speakers gain valuable experience as they advance in tourneys

The majority of the River Valley speech team traveled to Montevideo on Saturday, March 10, for the Thunderhawk tournament.  In creative expression, Isaac Nelson was first place champion with Ross VanDerWal following closely behind in second place.  Meanwhile, in extemporaneous reading, Emily Scheitel finished in fifth place while Meriah Kirschstein came in sixth. Layla Schwarzrock also placed sixth in her category, poetry.  Many students in attendance were only one or two points away from making the top six in their categories and received excellence ribbons. Those students were John Ombaye in drama, Kendall Kelly in poetry, Brianna Platz in prose, and Isaac Rasset and Anna Reiner in duo.
