St.Raphael School opens with prayer and a blessing
The American flag is a symbol of our nation’s pride and values, and we Americans, like people from countries all over the World, display their country’s pride to other nations. Throughout its history, the American flag has always been meant to be hoisted on a pole and fly freely, and to remind us of our country’s goodness, the freedom and the individual values we cherish. It is a tradition for students at St. Raphael School to gather around the flag pole at the beginning of the school year. Father Phil Schotzko, pastor of St. Raphael Church and superintendent at St. Raphael School, reminded students about importance of the flag, and why the it is chosen as the site for prayer and a blessing.
