Tyson Meidl receives American FFA Degree

On Saturday, November 2, 2019, Tyson Meidl put on his FFA Official Dress for a final time to walk across the stage at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana, to be recognized for earning his American FFA Degree. This is an honor that few people in Springfield FFA history have achieved. Tyson is the 23rd Springfield FFA member to receive this honor in the chapter’s 83 years. Some achievements that Tyson added to his American degree application include a 1st place State Proficiency Award in Agricultural services that ranked gold at Nationals for his work at Graff Insurance, a 2nd & 3rd Place proficiency in Diversified Crop production for farming, holding the office of Chapter President, Treasurer and Chaplain, Dekalb Agricultural Accomplishment Award, and more.

According to the National FFA Organization, FFA members who have demonstrated the highest level of commitment to FFA and made significant accomplishments in their supervised agricultural experiences are eligible for the American FFA Degree.

The American FFA Degree is awarded at the National FFA Convention & Expo each year to less than one percent of FFA members, making it one of the organization’s highest honors.
