Week of the Young Child Community Carnival planned for April 23

The Springfield Early Learning programs will celebrate The Week of the Young Child by hosting a carnival for area families and their children. The event focuses on children 0 years old — third-grade and their parents and siblings.

The carnival will include games, activities, prizes and continuous performances by the Balloon Man and the Zoo Man. A free family meal will be served in the cafeteria beginning at 5:15 p.m.

The Week of the Young Child was established in the early 1970s. It focuses on the young child and early learners and their parents, teachers and families. It recognizes Early Learning programs and services and community resources that meet the needs of young learners and their families. The Week of the Young Child promotes awareness of how our community, schools and nation can meet the needs of all children

The carnival will include participation of approximately 12 community resources and businesses that promote the well-being of families living in the Springfield.

The Springfield Public School has established a strong Early Learning Program via the support of Superintendent Keith Kottke and Elementary Principal Jeff Kuehn. Their philosophy and efforts are focused to keep these programs reasonably priced to encourage participation for all young learners. Investment in Early Education reaps many benefits for young child, families and our community.  Early Learning programs at the Springfield School include Tiger Cub preschool, Early Childhood and Family Education (ECSE) and Early Childhood Screening.

We are hoping to see many families at the Early Learning Carnival. Join us for an evening of fun, food and awareness.  There is no need to pre-register. Enter the northeast door of the public school near the business office. For more information, call 507-723-4286.
