Buerkle headed to State

The Springfield-Cedar Mountain boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Luverne for the Section 3A Cross Country Meet last Thursday, October 25.  Mitchell Buerkle took 5th place at the meet and will advance to the Class A State Cross Country Meet on November 3 at Northfield.  Congratulations Mitchell!

     In girls team action, Lilly McCone took 19th place with a time of 20:56.  Ellie Tonn took 37th place at 21:49 followed by Violet Hovland in 59th place at 22:53.  Helen O’Callaghan took 83rd place at 24:08 followed by Kendall Kelly in 88th place at 24:30.  Emma Sullivan took 104th place with a time of 26:08.  The girls finished in 9th place out of 17 teams at the meet.

  In boys team action, Mitchell Buerkle finished in 5th place with a time of 17:06.  Elijah Kirschstein finished in 27th place at 18:07 followed by Matthew Hillesheim  in 87th place at 20:10.  Dakotah Lumbar finished in 87th place at 20:17 followed by Carter Hillesheim in 106th place at 20:55.  Noah Vogel finished in 122nd place at 21:42 followed by Ben Potter in 127th place at 22:18.  The boys finished in 11th place out of 21 teams at the meet.

 SCM girls team members Kendall Kelly, Helen O’Callaghan and Brooke Hoffbeck were named to the 2018 Tomahawk Conference All-Academic Team Girls Team.  SCM boys team members Mitchell Buerkle, Elijah Kirschstein and Isaac Rasset were named to the 2018 Tomahawk Conference All-Academic Boys Team.  Requirements for the teams include being a member of a varsity squad, have a G.P.A. of 3.75 or higher and be a sophomore, junior or senior.  Congratulations to those team members named to the squads.  Best of luck to the coaches and to Mitchell at the state meet November 3!!
