The Redwood-River Valley wrestling team had a very busy week.  On Tuesday, January 8 the Badgers won two  dual meets against section rivals United and New London- Spicer.  The Badgers defeated United 42-36 and New London-Spicer 66-15.  On Thursday, January 10 the Badgers traveled to St. James to take on Conference foe St. Peter and Section opponent Fairmont-MCW.  The Badgers lost 37-42 to St. Peter with each team winning 7 matches but St. Peter picking up more bonus points and lost 23-52 to Fairmont-MCW, winning five of the twelve weights wrestled.

Big School Conference Meet

The Redwood-River Valley Badgers wrestled in the Big School Conference Tournament in Windom last Saturday, January 12.  It is one of the toughest conference tourneys in the state.  Four of the teams are ranked in either Class A or Class 2A.  The Badgers took third place at the tourney which is the highest team finish for the Badger wrestling program.  Nine place winners is also a program best.

Team tournament results include Fairmont-MCW 229, Marshall 191.5, Redwood-River Valley 135, Windom-Mountain Lake 133, Worthington 103.5, New Ulm Area 100, Blue Earth Area 96.5, St. Peter 93, Waseca 85, St. James Area 63, Jackson County Central 59, Pipestone Area 32 and Luverne 8.
