River Valley tennis begins season

The River Valley tennis team opened their season with one win and two losses last week.  They lost to Pipestone 1-6 and to Marshall 0-7 and got the win against Redwood Valley 4-3.

The River Valley tennis team lost 1-6 to Pipestone on August 19, putting their season record at 0-1.

In singles action, Brooklyn Moldan lost 3-6, 3-6; Kaydince Thoms won 7-5, 6-3; Deniz Demirturk lost 6-7, 4-7, 3-6; and Lexanna Lazatin lost 3-6, 4-6.  In doubles, Kathrine Schroepfer and Presley Dockter lost 1-6, 1-6; Megan Stevens and Jasmyne Windschitl lost 1-6, 1-6; and Sydne Wahl and Julia Groebner lost 2-6, 1-6.

River Valley 0  Marshall 7

The River Valley tennis team lost 0-7 to Marshall on Thursday, August 22,  putting their record at 0-2.

In singles action, Brooklyn Moldan lost 1-6, 1-6; Kaydince Thoms lost 0-6, 0-6; Deniz Demirturk lost 0-6, 1-6; and Lexanna Lazatin lost 0-6, 0-6.  In doubles action, Kathrine Schroepfer and Presley Dockter lost  0-6, 2-6; Megan Stevens and Jasmyne Windschitl lost 1-6, 1-6; and Julia Groebner and Sydne Wahl lost 1-6, 1-6.

River Valley 4  

Redwood Valley 3

The River Valley tennis team won 4-3 to Redwood Valley on Friday, August 23.  It was their first win of the new season, putting their recored at 1-2.

In singles action, Brooklyn Moldan won 1-6, 6-3, 6-3; Kaydince Thoms won 6-0, 6-2; Deniz Demirturk won 6-2, 6-1; and Lexanna Lazatin lost 4-6, 2-6.  In doubles, Kathrine Schroepfer and Presley Dockter lost 6-7, 4-7, 3-6; Megan Stevens and Jasmyne Windschitl lost 5-7, 6-7 3-7; and Sydne Wahl and Erika Lazano won 6-4, 6-4.

The tennis team has two matches on their schedule this week.  They will travel to Luverne on Monday, August 26 and play Worthington on Tuesday, August 27.  Best of luck to Head Coach Shane Laffen and Assistant Coach Brandon Andrews and the entire team in tennis action this week!
