Sam Baier with Willmar Stingers in Mankato

Springfield native, Sam Baier, is playing for the Willmar Stingers of the Northwoods League this summer. The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball league comprised of college players throughout the United States. There are twenty-two teams playing in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Canada.
The Stingers have a very aggressive schedule this season. They are celebrating their tenth anniversary July 6-7 with lots of activities and games against St. Cloud and Mankato. Baier and the team will make three more appearances in Mankato to take on the Mankato Moondogs at Franklin Rogers Park—Monday, July 8 at 6:35 p.m., Thursday, August 8 at 7:05 p.m. and Friday, August 9 at 7:05 p.m. Tickets for the games are available at www.northwoodsleague.com/mankato-moondogs/ if you are interested in seeing some Stinger action.
Baier, a junior at Augustana University, is the son of Randy and Amy Baier and grandson of Sharon Baier and Mary Ann Tauer.
