Scheffler, Buerkle lead Tiger crusade over Mankato Loyola

The Springfield boys basketball team traveled to Mankato on Friday, Dec. 20 to take on the Loyola Crusaders in what turned out to be a 93-67 victory for the Tigers.
Loyola had no answer to the Tigers offense early and Springfield shot their way to a 49-31 lead going into the break. The second half was much of the same with the potent Springfield offense finishing with a total of 93 points to the Crusaders 67.
Decker Scheffler and Mitchell Buerkle were a dynamic duo for the Tigers with Scheffler contributing 29 points and Buerkle adding 25. Scheffler also led the team in steals with five and rebounds with eight while Mason Leonard and Buerkle chipped in six boards each. Nolan Hovland was the playmaker on the night setting up his team with six assists while committing no turnovers.
