 The Springfield Tiger varsity boys basketball team went 1-1 on their schedule this past week.  The #2 ranked Tigers lost a heartbreaker 75-78 to the #1 ranked Minneota Vikings on December 29 and got a big win against the Wabasso Rabbits 81-29 on January 4.

   This week the Tigers travel to Redwood Valley on Monday, January 7, host Sleepy Eye on Tuesay, January 8 and travel to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Friday, January 11.  Best of luck to Head Coach Lance Larson and the Tigers in action this week!

 

Tigers 75  Minneota 78

The Tigers traveled to Minneota December 29 to face the #1 ranked Minneota Vikings.  It was an exciting game with the Tigers leading 43-38 at the break.  With a last minute 3-pointer, the Vikings defeated the Tigers 78-75, giving Springfield their first loss of the season.

In Tiger action, Isaac Fink scored 20 points with 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 1 steal while Decker Scheffler scored 19 points with 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.  Mitchell Buerkle scored 11 points with 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal while Jordan Kieper scored 9 points with 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal.  Ivan Hovland scored 9 points with 4 rebounds while Mitchell Leonard scored 5 points with 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Mason Kretsch scored 2 points with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal while Nolan Hovland added 2 rebounds and 4 assists.  Curtis Tauer had 4 rebounds for the Tigers.

 

Tigers 81  Wabasso  29

The Tigers got a big win at Wabasso last Friday evening, defeating the Rabbits 81-29.

In Tiger action, Isaac Fink scored 27 points with 14 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while Decker Scheffler scored 24 points with 2 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.  Mitchell Leonard scored 10 points with 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals while Jordan Kieper scored 5 points with 2 rebounds and 3 assists.  Mitchell Buerkle scored 5 points with 1 rebound and 2 assists while Mason Kretsch scored 4 points with 1 rebound, 1 assist and 1 steal.  Curtis Tauer scored 2 points with 2 rebounds and 1 assist while Jake Rosenstengel scored 2 points.  Elijah Kirschstein scored 1 point with 1 rebound, 2 assists and 1 steal while Ivan Hovland scored 1 point with 1 steal.  Nolan Hovland had 1 rebound, 2 assists and 2 steals and Noah Richert had 1 rebound for the big Tiger victory.
