Tiger boys basketball downs St. Clair 94-77

The Springfield Tiger boys basketball team opened their 2014-15 season with a super 94-77 win over a good St. Clair team last Friday evening in Springfield.  The Tigers held a 46-37 edge at halftime, scoring another 48 points in the second half for their victory.

Head Coach Lance Larson was pleased with the Tiger effort and looks forward to a good season.  Coach Larson has seniors Carter Erickson, Tyler Vogel and Andy Salonek, sophomores Noah Bertram, Jevan Richert, Kale Meendering, Joe Pieschel, Brandon Flock and Ben Runck, freshmen Tanner Vogel and Andrew Beckman and eighth grader Isaac Fink on his varsity team this season.

Leading the Tigers in their season opener against St. Clair was Tyler Vogel with 32 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 1 steal on the night.  Isaac Fink opened his Tiger career with 25 points, 9 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals with Carter Erickson getting 13 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 1 steal.  Tanner Vogel had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals with Kale Meendering getting 7 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.  Jevan Richert had 6 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal with Andy Salonek getting 4 rebounds and 2 assists on the night.

The Tigers are at Lamberton to face rival Red Rock Cenral this Tuesday, November 25.  Best of luck to Head Coach Lance Larson and the Tigers against RRC this week.
