Tiger Boys defeat St. Mary's 94-69

The Springfield Tiger varsity boys basketball team defeated St. Mary’s 94-69 for the sixth straight win of the season.  Their win over St. Mary’s set up a game of  undefeated teams, the Tigers and GFW, in Springfield last Friday night before a large crowd.  The Tigers led the game at halftime 39-34 before GFW outscored the Tigers 43-33 and won the Tomahawk matchup 72-77.

With their split in games, the Tigers fell to 6-1 overall, 4-1 in conference standings.  The Tigers will play in the St. James Holiday Tourney on December 29 and 30.  Springfield will return to regular season action on January 6 against Wabasso.  Best of luck to Head Coach Lance Larson and the Tigers when they play in the St. James Tourney and against Wabasso in early 2015 play.

 

Tigers 99   St. Mary’s 73

The Tiger boys opened their week with their 6th overall victory, a 99-73 win, at Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.  Springfield led 45-29 at halftime and built their lead throughout the second half, winning the Tomahawk Conference matchup 99-73 over the Knights.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Tanner Vogel with 22 points, 4 assists, 2 steals and 10 rebounds.  Teammate Kale Meendering had 20 points, 1 assist, 2 steals and 10 rebounds with Tyler Vogel getting 16 points, 5 assists, 1 steal and 9 rebounds.  Andy Salonek had 13 points, 3 assists and 8 rebounds with Isaac Fink getting 12 points, 11 assists, 3 steals and 9 rebounds.  Carter Erickson had 7 points, 8 assists, 2 steals and 9 rebounds with Jevan Richert getting 7 points and 2 rebounds.  Andrew Beckman had 2 points and 1 assist with Noah Bertram getting 2 rebounds.  Teammate Joe Pieschel added 1 assist on the night.

Tigers 72  GFW 77

The Tiger boys held a lead over rival GFW last Friday night, 39-34, before getting outscored 33-43 in the second half.  The Tigers lost their first game of the 2014-15 season, 77-72, before a large crowd in Springfield.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Isaac Fink with 18 points, 4 assists, 1 steal and 6 rebounds.  Teammate Andy Salonek had 12 points, 1 assist, 3 steals and 10 rebounds with Tanner Vogel getting 10 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 rebounds.  Carter Erickson had 10 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 4 rebounds with Tyler Vogel getting 10 points, 2 assists, 1 steal and 2 rebounds.  Kale Meendering had 9 points, 1 steal and 7 rebounds with teammate Jevan Richert getting 3 points, 1 assist and 4 rebounds on the night.
