Tiger Boys down CMC and NU Cathedral
The Springfield Tiger boys varsity basketball team remained perfect on the year with a pair of victories last week. The Tigers defeated Cedar Mountain-Comfrey 62-60 and beat New Ulm Cathedral 78-74 to remain perfect at 5-0 on the early season.
The Tigers have another pair of games this week. On Tuesday, the boys travel to Sleepy Eye to take on rival St. Mary’s and on Friday they host GFW. Best of luck to Head Coach Lance Larson and the Tigers against St. Mary’s and GFW this week.
Tigers 62 CMC 60
The Tigers battled hard the entire game against Cedar Mountain-Comfrey last Tuesday evening in Morgan. The Tigers came home with a big win, 62-60, to move to a perfect 4-0 on the early season.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Tyler Vogel with 21 points, 3 assists, 1 steal and 5 rebounds. Teammate Kale Meendering had 12 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 9 rebounds with Tanner Vogel getting 11 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 7 rebounds. Isaac Fink had 10 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds with Carter Erickson getting 4 points, 4 assists and 6 rebounds. Andy Salonek had 4 points, 1 assist and 3 rebounds with teammate Jevan Richert adding 1 assist, 3 steals and 3 rebounds on the night.

Tigers 78 NUC 74
The Tigers traveled to New Ulm to play Tomahawk Conference rival Cathedral last Friday night. In a close game, the Tigers defeated Cathedral 78-74 to stay perfect on the season at 5-0.
Leading the way in their victory over New Ulm Cathedral was Tyler Vogel with 19 points, 2 assists, 3 steals and 10 rebounds. Teammate Isaac Fink had 18 points, 3 assists, 3 steals and 4 rebounds with Kale Meendering getting 15 points, 4 assists and 2 rebounds. Tanner Vogel had 13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 6 rebounds with Andy Salonek getting 9 points, 1 assist and 3 rebounds. Carter Erickson had 2 points, 3 assists and 7 rebounds with Jevan Richert adding 2 points and 2 rebounds on the night.
