Tiger Girls Basketball defeats NUC 64-58

 

The Springfield Tiger girls varsity basketball team split a pair of Tomahawk Conference matchups last week.  On Tuesday, the Tigers lost a close game against rival Cedar Mountain-Comfrey 62-65 and won their matchup with New Ulm Cathedral 64-58 on Friday night in Springfield.

With their split in games, the Tigers are now 3-1 on the season with two more matchups this week.  On Tuesday, the girls host St. Mary’s and this Friday the girls travel to Fairfax to do battle with GFW.  Best of luck of Head Coach Paul Arnoldi and the Tigers againt St. Mary’s and GFW this week.

The Tigers fought the entire game but came up 3 points short, getting beat by Cedar Mountain-Comfrey 65-62, last Tuesday evening in Morgan.  It was Springfield’s first loss of the 2014-15 season.

Leading the way for the Tigers in a very close loss was Joeli Arnoldi with 23  points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.  Teammate Taylor Milbrath had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal with Michaela Leonard getting 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal.  Amy Davis had 5 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists with Vishe Raab getting 5 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 assists.  Jenny Thoreson had 4 points, 1 steal and 2 assists with Kaelyn Platz getting 2 points and 1 rebound.  Mariah Hoyt added 1 assist on the night.

Tigers 64   NUC 58

The Tigers were back in the win column last Friday night before a large crowd in Springfield.  The Tigers were up at halftime, 39-26, before New Ulm Cathedral scored 32 second half points.  Springfield went on to win the conference matchup 64-58.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Joeli Arnoldi with 19 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.  Teammate Amy Davis had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists with Vishe Raab getting 9 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.  Taylor Milbrath had 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists with Jenny Thoreson getting 7 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal and 5 assists.  Michaela Leonard had 2 points and 3 rebounds with Hailey Wester getting 2 points and 1 rebound.  Mariah Hoyt had 2 steals with Kaelyn Platz adding 2 rebounds on the night.
