Tiger girls defeat St. Mary's and GFW

The Springfield Tiger varsity girls basketball team won a pair of Tomahawk Conference matchups last week.  The Tigers beat St. Mary’s 94-69 and GFW 62-56.

With their pair of wins, the Tigers are now 5-1 on the season with one game on their schedule on Monday, December 22 against GHEC-Truman before the holiday break.  Best of luck to Head Coach Paul Arnoldi and the Tigers against GHEC-Truman this week.

Tigers 94  St. Mary’s 69

The Tiger girls opened their week with a fantastic 94-69 win over Tomahawk Conference rival Sleepy Eye St. Mary’s.  The Tigers opened their game with St. Mary’s scoring 50 big points in the first half and 44 points in the second half for the 25 point victory.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Taylor Milbrath with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 1 steal on the night.  Teammates Joeli Arnoldi and Jenny Thoreson had 17 points apiece with Arnoldi adding 3 rebounds, 3 steals and 4 assists plus Thoreson getting 4 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 assists.  Vishe Raab had 15 points, 9 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 assists with Michaela Leonard getting 10 points, 7 rebounds and 1 steal.  Amy Davis had 7 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 assist with Hailey Wester getting 4 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.  Kaelyn Platz had 3 points and 3 rebounds with Kylee Wells getting 2 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal.  Teammate Callie Wersal added 1 point on the night.

Tigers 62 GFW 56

The Tigers returned to the court last Friday with a Tomahawk Conference matchup against GFW in Winthrop.  In a very close game, the Tigers defeated GFW 62-56, after falling behind at halftime 22-30.  Springfield scored 40 points in the second half for the victory.

Leading the way for the Tigers was Joeli Arnoldi with 25 points, 8 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 assists.  Teammate Jenny Thoreson had 13 points, 3 rebounds, 5 steals and 4 assists with Vishe Raab getting 8 points, 11 rebounds and 2 steals.  Taylor Milbrath had 6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal with Michaela Leonard getting 6 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.  Amy Davis had 2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists with Kaelyn Platz getting 2 points and 2 rebounds.  Hailey Wester added 1 rebound on the night.
