Tigers are runner-up for Section 2A basketball title

  The Springfield Tiger varsity boys basketball team faced Mayer Lutheran in the Section 2A championship game last Friday evening at the Taylor Center in Mankato.  The Tigers lost a heartbreaker, 78-75, with the winning three-point Crusader three-point basket coming at the buzzer.  Mayer Lutheran took the championship title and moves on to the state tournament this week and Springfield took the runner-up title.  The Tigers ended their season at 28-2, 16-0 in the Tomahawk Conference.

     Head Coach Lance Larson would like to thank his entire team, especially seniors Tanner Vogel, Andrew Beckman and Blaine Groebner, on a great season of Tiger basketball.  Thanks, also, to the coaching staff and all the loyal fans for their support throughout the season.  Congratulations to Coach Larson and the Tigers on the great season of basketball and for capturing  the South Subsection 2A championship and the Section 2A runner-up title!
