Tigers are section champs — headed to state

The Springfield Tiger varsity boys basketball team is headed to the Minnesota State Class A Tournament for the second time in three years.  The Tigers won the South Subsection Championship over WEM 93-64 last Monday, March 11 at Gustavus Adolphus College and then the Section 2A Championship over MVL 92-85 last Friday, March 15 at Minnesota State University in Mankato.  The win sends the Tigers to the State Class A Tournament this week.      

     Springfield  (#1 seed in Class A and the highest scoring team in Class A at 88.2 points per game) will face Spring Grove this Thursday, March 21 at 11:00 a.m. at Williams Arena on the campus of the University of Minnesota. The winner of that game goes on to play on Friday, March 22 at 12:00 p.m. at Target Center. Advance tickets and fan bus information for the Thursday game are available at the high school office at Springfield Public School.

     Congratulations to Head Coach Lance Larson and the Tigers on the Subsection and Section Championship  titles and best of luck in the state tournament this week!  The whole Springfield community will be cheering you on this week!  Tiger Pride!
