Former local hospital administrator retires

     Carroll County Memorial Hospital (CCMH) announces the retirement of Chief Executive Officer Scott Thoreson, effective June 23, 2026, concluding five years of dedicated, forward-focused leadership that has strengthened the hospital and the community it serves.

     Thoreson joined CCMH in July 2021, bringing more than 26 years of rural healthcare leadership experience with the Mayo Clinic Health System in Minnesota, including Springfield.   Since his arrival, he has led the 25-bed critical access hospital and its more than 260 employees through a period marked by stability, growth, and national recognition for excellence in care.

     “Scott exemplifies what it means to lead with purpose and compassion,” said Tom Burkhart, CCMH Board of Directors president. “His focus has never been on personal recognition, but rather on building a strong, sustainable foundation for the future. Because of his leadership, CCMH is well-positioned to thrive for years to come.”
