Museum to open for the 2026 summer season

The Springfield Area Historical Society (SAHS) invites everyone to join in the “Celebration” at the museum in downtown Springfield this summer.  The museum summer displays are highlighting several milestone anniversaries—our country’s 250th, our town’s 145th and the museum’s 30th—plus recognizing and celebrating several of Springfield’s founding fathers, businesses and industries, both past and present.

There is also a memorial tribute to celebrate the contributions of three of our past/current SAHS board members—Carole Young, Steve Renner and Bob Sturm—who passed away this past year.

The museum will open for the summer season on Friday, June 5.  Summer hours through the month of August are Wednesday and Friday afternoons from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.  An open house is being planned for Friday, June 26.  More details regarding it will be forthcoming.

For a special appointment, please call Cheryl Diede (507-723-6121 or 507-227-7262), Deb Beyer (507-920-3480), Peggy Larson (507-920-6701) or John Ryan (507-920-7816).

Springfield not only has a lot to share, but also a lot to celebrate.  Visit the museum this summer and celebrate our country, our town, and it’s people, both past and present.
