Fountain, plaza installed at Community Center
The patio at the Springfield Area Community Center has been extended and a new cast iron fountain has been installed on the plaza. The landscaping project includes plans to extend the flower garden westward along the bank of the Big Cottonwood River. This picture was taken Thursday as workers neared completion of the paver work. The pavers were “recycled” from Springfield’s Fresh Water Treatment Plant on O’Connell Avenue. The project is financially supported by the Henry and Elsie Roiger Endowment to the City of Springfield. The natural environment was important to the Roigers and they supported conservation and ecosystem during their lifetime, and Elsie loved gardening and flowers.
