Fourth in state — first in our hearts!

Springfield High School Tiger boys varsity basketball team had an impressive season with exciting tournament play that took them all the way to the Minnesota State High School League Class A State Tournament last week. Springfield won the battle of the Tigers — Springfield and Nevis — 73-65, in the opening quarter-final game on Thursday. The Tigers lost their chance to become state champion to the much taller and stronger Minneapolis North Polars, 100-56, in the semifinal game on Friday. The Tigers finished fourth in the consolation game Saturday with a 51-47 loss to the Goodhue Wildcats. Springfield’s Isaac Fink, Kale Meendering and Tanner Vogel carry off the Tigers’ fourth-place trophy following the consolation game. It wasn’t the ending Springfield hoped for, but the team remains first in our hearts! Congratulations, Tigers, on a very successful season! We are proud of you!
